DMCA & Copyright Policy

Last updated: 10/02/2026

Our position on copyright

Galactic Rocker respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects the people who use this site to do the same. We respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512.

If you believe material on this site infringes a copyright you own or control, you can send us a notice using the process below. If you think your material was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notification. Both routes are described here so neither side has to guess.

Before you send a notice

Please consider whether the use you’re objecting to is actually infringing. Quotation, criticism, commentary, news reporting, and review are often lawful fair use, and the law requires you to consider fair use in good faith before sending a takedown. Misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages and legal costs under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

Often the quickest fix isn’t a legal notice at all. If the issue is a missing credit, a photo you’d like swapped, or an attribution you’d prefer worded differently, email us through our Contact page and we’ll usually sort it out the same week.

How to send a DMCA notice

A valid notice must be a written communication to our designated agent that includes all six of the following:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed — or, if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list of them.
  3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it — a direct URL to the specific page, and a description of the specific item on it, not just the site name.
  4. Your contact information: name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

Incomplete notices slow everything down. A notice missing any of the six elements above may not be effective under the DMCA, and we may ask you to resend it before we can act.

What happens after we receive a valid notice

  • We review the notice for completeness, usually within a few business days.
  • If it’s valid, we remove or disable access to the material identified.
  • We make a reasonable effort to notify whoever posted it, and to pass along a copy of the notice.
  • We keep a record of the notice and the action we took.

Counter-notification

If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notification containing all of the following, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3):

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if your address is outside the United States, to any judicial district in which we may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they’ve filed a court action seeking to restrain the activity. A counter-notification consents to being sued in federal court — it is not a casual step, and it’s worth getting advice before sending one.

Repeat infringers

In appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, we will disable or terminate access for users who are repeat infringers, and we may remove content and block participation without waiting for a court to rule.

Using our content

Running in the other direction: our original text, images, and video are protected too. You’re welcome to quote a short excerpt with clear attribution and a link back to the original page. Republishing whole articles, rehosting our images, or using our content to train or build a commercial dataset requires written permission.

To request permission, syndication, or licensing, email legal@galacticrocker.com. We say yes more often than you’d expect — we just want to be asked.

Contact

Copyright and rights enquiries please send us an email through our Contact page.
Everything else send us an email through our Contact page.

This page describes a process, not legal advice. If a copyright dispute matters enough to send a notice about, it’s worth a conversation with a lawyer first.
